Information for Event Organisers

SAM is your opportunity to get involved in Scotland's archaeology!
All sorts of people organise events for Scottish Archaeology Month, from professional archaeologists to local heritage groups, archaeological and historical societies, Young Archaeologists' Clubs and enthusiastic individuals with an interest in their local history or monuments.
Anyone can organise an event for SAM! We will be there with support and advice. Just follow the steps below:
1. Start by taking a look at the National Events Guides for SAM 2008 to get ideas on what kind of event you might what to organise.
2. Read our Guidelines for Participants - these will give you advice on what you'll need to do to organise a SAM event and how we will support you.
3. Then, send in your Registration Form to get your event in the National Events Guide which is distributed all over Scotland, and for inclusion in our online SAM Events Calendar.
We’ll give you advice on how to publicise your event and even supply you with National Event Guides (containing your event) for distribution and SAM posters with a blank place where you can add the details of your event. The Guidelines for Participants give you information on Risk Assessment and Child Protection issues and if you’re in any doubt just contact the office.
