Information for Youth Workers
Archaeology can be used to deliver informal educational activities as part of any youth programme! Archaeology Scotland supports youth workers -and the young people they work with - through the provision of resources and loans, coordinating a forum for youth workers, and our work with Young Scot.
We have created a forum dedicated to youth workers. It is a place where you can see upcoming archaeology events, discover activity ideas and contacts, discuss ideas and engage with and learn from Archaeology Scotland and each other. Join our Youth Workers' forum here!
We have teamed up with Young Scot, the national youth information and citizenship charity, in order to promote archaeology to 400,000 young people aged 11-26 by offering opportunities for young people to get points on their National Entitlement Card (NEC). If you would like your archaeology activities to be registered as points-providers for NEC holders, contact our Archaeology Advisor to Young Scot by email here.
Archaeology Scotland has developed online resources and hands-on loans for you to use with your youth group. If you would like to speak to someone about the loans and resources on offer, whether for advice or how to use the equipment, then please call 0845 872 3333 and ask to speak to a member of the Learning team.
