SUMMARY:Arthur's Amble - Ranger led Guided Walk of Arthur's Seat
DESCRIPTION:Come along on a gentle guided walk around Hunter’s Bog and St. Margaret’s Loch to learn more about Arthur’s Seat’s turbulent past\, created by fire and ice! Find out about the people who lived and worked in the Park from 7 thousand years ago up until the present day and learn more about the rare wildlife that makes the Park so special. \nAge: This walk may not be suitable for children under 12 years. \nGrade: Easy \nRoute: Volunteers’ Walk\, Camstane\, Hunter’s Bog\, St. Margaret’s Loch. This may change. \nBring: Warm\, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear with good grips. A snack and a drink. \nToilets: Toilets are available at the Holyrood Park Education Centre (EH8 8HG). No toilets on the walk itself. \nParking: Broad Pavement Car Park (off Queen’s Drive\, next to Holyrood Palace). Parking charges are £1 per hour. Charges apply 08:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays). SUMMARY:Hands on History Workshop – A Roman Frontier Post & Its People
DESCRIPTION:A great session for groups large and small (from 2-12) to experience this unique opportunity – get hands on with our fascinating Roman handling collection of 2000 year old artefacts and chat with our experienced museum curatorial staff! \nA chance to come and enjoy a unique Roman object handling session with our experienced team here at Trimontium. In this session you will get up close and personal with a range of original artefacts from the Roman site at Trimontium and beyond. Our experienced staff will take you on a journey through the Roman Iron Age here in The Borders. Using carefully selected original objects from the Trimontium Collections you will get the chance to examine and experience this intriguing and enigmatic part of Scotland’s history for yourself. \nThe objects will be enriched by detailed imagery and the known context of the object itself and its journey from the Roman past into the museum collections. \nYour session will include the chance to make and take home a Roman style wire-wrap ring… similar to those found at the site of Trimontium. At the end of the workshop you will have free time to enjoy the Trimontium Museum Gallery and audio visuals. \nThese specialised sessions are aimed at anyone interested in history\, archaeology\, the Roman Iron Age\, museum collections and stories from the past. \nSuitable for Adults and Children (from approx. 8yrs and up). All materials and gallery guide included in the ticket price. The experience lasts approximately 135 minutes\, 90 minutes for the workshop portion and 45 minutes to view the museum gallery. You are of course welcome to stay visiting the gallery as long as you’d like!

DESCRIPTION:Prof Stuart Campbell is not only Professor of Archaeology at Manchester University\, but also leads Trimontium Trust’s extensive programme of fieldwork which\, since he last reported\, has spanned sites from Aberdeenshire to the Lake District. Stuart will bring us up to date with LiDAR\, geophysics and detecting surveys at a number of fascinating locations associated with the Roman Iron Age and also reveal some amazing hot off the press results from the enigmatic site of Trimontium itself. \nONLINE VIA ZOOM \nTICKET TYPES  – This talk takes place online only\, via Zoom.  The link will be sent out to members 48 hours prior to the talk day. For non members\, the link can be found in the ticket confirmation email and reminder email.\n\nBOOKING FEES  – A 4% booking fee applies to any tickets purchased.
