Considering multiple award recognition?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Why not combine your Heritage Hero Award with one of Youth Scotland\u2019s fabulous youth awards? The <a href=\"https:\/\/archaeologyscotland.org.uk\/learning\/heritage-hero-awards\/\">Heritage Hero Awards<\/a> fit seamlessly with both Youth Scotland&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youthscotland.org.uk\/awards\/hi5-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hi5 Award<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youthscotland.org.uk\/awards\/dynamic-youth-award\/\">Dynamic Youth Award<\/a>. These awards can be incorporated into your existing plans for your Heritage Hero Award by shaping the award challenges around your heritage project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hi5 Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Hi5 Awards are an inclusive Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) credit rated award, open to anyone age 5 and over.\u00a0 To complete the award young people are encouraged to set themselves a challenge, complete their challenge through a series of activities, recording time spent doing so. They then review and comment on their achievements whilst gathering evidence of participation \u2013 this can be as simple as including photos, drawings or diary entries of activities.\u00a0 Each participant records their achievements in a challenge sheet, which is quality assured by Youth Scotland at the end of the project.<\/p>\n<p>More information on the award can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youthscotland.org.uk\/awards\/hi5-awards\/\">https:\/\/www.youthscotland.org.uk\/awards\/hi5-awards\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This award is easy to combine with your Heritage Hero Award project, and can be incorporated into your existing project plans. To participate you must be registered with Youth Scotland. As part of a partnership project between the Heritage Hero Award and Youth Scotland, groups, clubs and schools can register for free (usually \u00a325 a year) and deliver an unlimited number of Hi5 awards, based on their Heritage Hero Award project, between April 2019 and March 2020. Individuals can also register for free (usually \u00a310 a year) within the same T\u2019s &amp; C\u2019s, this allows for the submission of up to 10 challenge sheets.\u00a0 Challenge sheets cost \u00a36 each \u2013 all participants need one of these to complete their Hi5 award.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dynamic Youth Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These awards, which are also SCQF credit rated, are open to those from age 10 and operate following a Plan-Do-Review process. \u00a0The planning step of the award involves setting a challenge (this could be linked to a Heritage Hero Award project), and some personal targets they\u2019d like to work towards whilst completing their challenge.\u00a0 This links to the <strong>Plan<\/strong> stage of the Heritage Hero Award.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2 encompasses planning and doing the selected challenge.\u00a0 This would encompass the <strong>Investigate<\/strong>, <strong>Engage<\/strong> and <strong>Inspire <\/strong>sections of the Heritage Hero Award where the two awards are being used together.\u00a0 The Dynamic Youth Award requires the submission of a personal portfolio of evidence alongside a completed Challenge Sheet.\u00a0 The Heritage Hero Awards <strong>Award Level Booklet<\/strong>, a digital copy of which if freely available from Archaeology Scotland is ideal for this.\u00a0 A completed Award Level Booklet can double as a personal portfolio, and when completed properly would form all the evidence required for the Dynamic Youth award.\u00a0 Double check with the award guidelines to make sure what you\u2019re recording fits with both awards (guidelines available here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youthscotland.org.uk\/awards\/completing-your-awards\/dya-award-completion-guide\/\">DYA Award Completion Guide &#8211; Youth Scotland)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Top Tip: save any tickets from visitor attractions or exhibitions etc. you might visit as part of your award and stick these in your Award Level Booklet\/personal portfolio \u2013 they\u2019re great evidence of working towards your award!<\/p>\n<p>Step 3 \u2013 the review stage of the Dynamic Youth Award involves both self-assessment of the challenge and a fair peer assessment from members of the Award Group.
