Free training presentation and downloadable resources – Introducing Archaeology in the Classroom CLPL
As part of our commitment to delivering continuous lifelong and professional learning, as well as make archaeological learning more accessible, in January and March we piloted a 1 hour online training session – Introducing Archaeology in the Classroom. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who attended, and for their valued feedback, it was great to hear from and work with educators.

What is the training about?
The session shared ideas and resources for educators to introduce Archaeology to their learners, as well as providing signposting to a few of our top recommendations for archaeology and heritage organisations and online resources.
We shared our Energy Through Time project which applied an archaeological approach to Sustainability and Climate action. This Scottish Power Foundation funded project is an example of how you can introduce archaeology to your learners so they can uncover stories of harnessing energy sources, natural resources and the impacts on people and places in the past, as well as learning from the past to explore sustainable futures for all. We shared a simple how-to guide for any educators, learners groups and individuals who want to run their own Energy Through Time project.
Who is this training for?
This training was designed for teachers, trainee teachers and educators working with CfE Second Level Learners. The training is also relevant for youth group leaders, Young Archaeologist Club leaders, students and anyone interested in using archaeology as a tool for learning. There is no experience necessary, and it is suitable for people without or with experience of delivering archaeological learning.
We aimed for teachers and educators to leave the session with increased confidence, knowledge and tools for delivering archaeological learning for their learners.
