Income from legacies is very important to Archaeology Scotland as it helps us to plan for the future. Protecting Scotland’s heritage requires a very long-term commitment, and we need to know that we can continue to enhance our heritage for the benefit of future generations.

For over 75 years, Archaeology Scotland has been working with people across Scotland to conserve and celebrate our rich heritage. With changes in land use, development threats and climate change, protecting the future of our heritage is more urgent than ever.
Archaeology Scotland relies on voluntary donations, and legacies ensure that our build and cultural heritage is indeed a living legacy. Any gift, large or small, is extremely welcome. The following indicates what specific amounts could enable us to achieve.
- £1000 – an interpretation board for an important site
- £2,000 – 10 training sessions for a community group
- £5,000 – a community heritage conference

Your Will is a very personal document and is your one sure way of knowing that your wishes are carried out when you are no longer here. It is the means of ensuring that those closest to you are provided for, and should you wish, the means of supporting the causes you cared about in your lifetime.
Making a Will is important – and so is regularly revising it. Sadly, many people think it’s too expensive, or simply forget it. But it’s simpler than it seems.
Making a Will is usually very straightforward, but we do urge you to seek legal advice. It, usually, only costs from around £75! Unfortunately, DIY Wills are not a good idea and visiting a solicitor and getting professional advice is by far the best option.
