Adopt-a-Monument celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2021 a landmark that was achieved through the work of hundreds of people across the country.
At its core Adopt-a-Monument is here to help you get involved with your local heritage. It supports local communities to conserving monuments that they feel passionate about. We do this through training, advice, fundraising and practical on-site activities.
Monuments can range from small markers to whole landscapes and we are always keen to add to the 115 projects we have helped support so far.
We have adapted Adopt-a-Monument to work at larger scales, such as our Real Wild West Project in Ardnamurchan and have a focused graveyard programme under our Treasured Remains Banner. We are always keen to support groups or organisations develop similar projects.
We offer events, training workshops, and field schools as well as bespoke assistance with your project through our services offer. Take a look at what we have to offer and get in touch to see if we can help.
Did you know Adopt-a-Monument programmes, similar to our own, are also active in Ireland and Finland?
“It is only with their support that I can see it continuing. Without the project the site and information will be forgotten, eventually to destruction”.
“AaM has been a fantastic tool for getting local people involved with local archaeology”
