St Cuthbert‘s Churchyard, Kirkcudbright, DG6 4XY

The setting and history of Kirkcudbright kirkyard makes it well worth seeking out. It is important as the site of the original kirk of St Cuthbert, possibly built sometime in the period 750-850, which gave the town its name, and the site of the most southerly Viking burials in Scotland. There is much of interest besides this, not least the variety of gravestones and the individuals commemorated on them.
Meet at the kirkyard gate on the edge of town on the Gelston Rd. Pre-booking not required.
