This learning resource explores Tombstones and Tales at Dunfermline Abbey Churchyards. It is aimed at upper primary and BGE S1-S3 history students. It includes background information, learning activities and additional support materials.
The learning resource was created by volunteers from the Tombstones and Tales at Dunfermline Abbey Churchyards, with assistance from Dr Susan Buckham of Kirkyard Consulting. The project was funded by the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust and Fife Council and carried out as part of a community heritage project managed by Kirkyard Consulting and Archaeology Scotland (2021-2023).
Tombstones and Tales at Dunfermline Abbey Churchyards is a community heritage group made up of local volunteers who aim to stimulate an interest in the history of the Abbey Churchyards and the folk buried there.
Many of the resources and activity sheets created for this project could be used to explore any Scottish churchyard.
